Modeling He-rich subdwarfs through the hot-flasher scenario

چکیده
We present 1D numerical simulations aimed at studying the hot-flasher scenario for the formation of He-rich subdwarf stars. Sequences were calculated for a wide range of metallicities and with the He core flash at different points of the post-RGB evolution (i.e. different remnant masses). We followed the complete evolution from the ZAMS, through the hot-flasher event, and to the subdwarf stage for all kinds of hot-flashers. This allows us to present a homogeneous set of abundances for different metallicities and all flavors of hot-flashers. We extend the scope of our work by analyzing the effects in the predicted surface abundances of some standard assumptions in convective mixing and the effects of element diffusion. We find that the hot-flasher scenario is a viable explanation for the formation of He-sdO stars. Our results also show that element diffusion may produce the transformation of (post hotflasher) He-rich atmospheres into He-deficient ones. If this is so, then the hot-flasher scenario is able to reproduce both the observed properties and distribution of He-sdO stars.

Hot Flashers and He Dwarfs in Galactic Globulars
Context. We revisit the evolutionary scenario for Hot Flasher low-mass structures, where mass loss delays the He flash till the initial phases of their White Dwarf cooling sequence. Aims. Our aim has been to test the theoretical results visa -vis different assumptions about the efficiency of mass loss. Methods. To this purpose, we present evolutionary models covering a fine grid of masses, as o...
متن کاملThe Hottest Horizontal - Branch Stars in ω Centauri – Late Hot Flasher vs . Helium Enrichment ⋆
Context. UV observations of some massive globular clusters uncovered a significant population of very hot stars below the hot end of the horizontal branch (HB), the so-called blue hook stars. This feature might be explained either as results of the late hot flasher scenario where stars experience the helium flash while on the white dwarf cooling curve or by the progeny of the helium-enriched su...
متن کاملHot subdwarfs from the stable Roche lobe overflow channel
Context. Hot subdwarfs are core-helium-burning stars with extremely thin envelopes. We discuss the formation and evolution of hot subdwarfs formed through the stable Roche lobe overflow (RLOF) channel of intermediate-mass binaries, although their formation channels are various. Aims. In this study, we concentrate on the formation and evolution of hot subdwarfs binaries through the stable RLOF c...
متن کاملSpectroscopic Analyses of the “Blue Hook” Stars in ω Centauri: A Test of the Late Hot Flasher Scenario
ω Cen contains the largest population of very hot horizontal branch (HB) stars known in a globular cluster. Recent UV observations (Whitney et al. 1998; D’Cruz et al. 2000) show a significant population of hot stars below the zero-age horizontal branch (“blue hook” stars), which cannot be explained by canonical stellar evolution. Stars which suffer unusually large mass loss on the red giant bra...
متن کاملHorizontal Branch stars in ω Centauri : clues about their origin from the cluster Color Magnitude Diagram
We investigate a peculiar feature at the hottest, blue end of the horizontal branch of Galactic globular cluster ω Centauri, using the high-precision and nearly complete catalog that has been constructed from a survey taken with the Advanced Camera for Survey on board the Hubble Space Telescope, that covers the inner 10 × 10 arcminutes. It is a densely populated clump of stars with an almost ve...
